About the Rolex Daytona – Ref. 16523 (Champagne Dial / Steel & Yellow Gold / 40mm):

The Rolex Daytona reference 16523 is part of the highly collectible “Zenith” era Daytonas, produced during the late 1980s through 2000. This reference is powered by the Caliber 4030, a heavily modified version of Zenith’s El Primero movement, adjusted by Rolex to meet chronometer standards and reduced in beat rate for improved durability. The watch features a 40mm stainless steel case with yellow gold accents, including a gold tachymeter bezel and matching two-tone Oyster bracelet. The champagne dial with tritium hour markers and hands reflects period-correct materials from the era. As the first automatic Daytona generation, the 16523 holds an important place in the model’s evolution prior to the introduction of Rolex’s in-house Caliber 4130.
