The Rolex Explorer II reference 16570 was introduced in 1989 as the successor to the 16550, refining the tool-watch aesthetic established in the original 1971 Explorer II. This 1997 example features a black tritium dial paired with the fixed stainless steel 24-hour bezel, designed for tracking a second time zone or distinguishing day from night in low-light environments.
Powered by the Rolex Caliber 3185, the watch offers an independently adjustable 24-hour hand and a date display, making it practical for travel and exploration. The 40mm Oyster case provides durability with 100 meters of water resistance and sapphire crystal protection.
